
Abdul Ghaffar Kashani (PhD)
Exploration Manager
Abdul Ghaffar Kashani, a native of the mineral-rich Chagai district, is a seasoned Exploration Geologist with about 15 years of experience in mineral exploration and mining. He is set to join NRL as Exploration Manager, following his tenure as District Geologist at Barrick-RDMC’s Reko Diq Project, one of the world’s largest porphyry Cu-Au deposits, where, as a leading member of the exploration team, he contributed to the successful discovery of a major new porphyry deposit in the district beyond the well-known Western Porphyry. Ghaffar career includes key roles with MCC at the Saindak Cu-Au Project as mine geologist in the production of its South Orebody and as a senior exploration geologist in the re-exploration of North and East orebodies and with Engro at its Mineral-Mining programs and as well as with the Thar Coal Project. Ghaffar’s industry work spans both greenfield and brownfield exploration in target generation, drill planning, QA/QC management, and integrating geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to advance the projects.
Ghaffar holds a PhD in Mineral Prospecting and Exploration and has combined research on porphyry copper-gold systems with extensive field experience. His academic tenure as Assistant Professor of Economic Geology at the University of Balochistan and Kunming University of Science and Technology, along with contributions to peer-reviewed research, underscores his ability to link scientific insight with practical solutions for mineral exploration, particularly in unlocking the potential of the fertile Chagai Magmatic belt.
